The Garden City Wings Varsity Ice Hockey Team recently concluded their 35th season in the High School Hockey League of Nassau County. The
team had a great regular season record of 10-3-5. This gave the boys third place and a playoff spot.
In a hard-fought single-elimination game, the Wings fell to a strong Levittown team with a seemingly unbeatable goalie. As they had all
season, the boys played hard from the opening faceoff until the last second ticked off the clock, sealing their fate.
Congratulations to the Varsity Wings on another exciting season of hockey.
Congratulations to the Wings' seniors who are graduating this June: David Brown, Michael Cupolo, team captain Nick Greco, Danny Hickcox,
alternate captain Aaron Kim, Michael Lanciotti, John Mendicino, Tom Rossidis, Joe Scalise and goalie Davey Logan.
This talented group of players will be missed.
This season's juniors were Tom Greco and Eric Diller. The sophomores were Pat Donahue, Tim Moynihan, Tom White, Beau Lardner
and Spiros Markopoulos. The freshmen were Pat Powers, Kenny Boudreau, Tom Martis, Steve Lanciotti and goalie David Wax. These
returning players form a solid core for next year's team.
