Three Named To All-Star Squad

Three Garden City students have been named to the Nassau County high school hockey all-star squad that will face off against Suffolk County in the 10th Annual Vytra Cup on February 3 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. The players are:

Jeffrey Greco, a senior at Garden City High School, who plays goalie for Garden City Wings Hockey. His hockey accomplishments include playing on the Wings for four years and the Green Machine Ice Cats. In addition, Jeffrey is a member of the National Honor Society and the Italian Honor Society.

Nick Andersen, a sophomore at St. Mary's High School, who plays defense for St. Mary's Gaels. His hockey accomplishments include Apple Core Jr. C. In addition, Nick is an honor student.

Tom Rossidis, a sophomore at Garden City High School, who plays defense on the Garden City Wings. His hockey accomplishments include L.I. Gulls (Mite thru Bantam) and Apple Core Jr. In addition, Tom is an honor student.

Sponsored by Vytra Heath Plans and the New York Islanders, the Vytra Cup will benefit All Island Handicapped Sports, a non-profit organization that runs programs for physically challenged children, some of whom compete in the Special Olympics.

The Vytra Cup game will begin at 7:00 p.m. on February 3rd. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be ordered by calling the High School Hockey League of Nassau County at (516) 996-4533 or ordering on-line through www.longislandhshockey.net, and clicking on Vytra Cup
