Kevin Seiferth , a senior at Garden City High School and Ryan Norell, a junior, have been named to
the Nassau County high school hockey all-star squad that will face off against Suffolk County in
the 9th Annual Vytra Cup on February 17 at the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale. Seiferth is a resident
of Garden City.
Sponsored by Vytra Heath Plans, the New York Islanders and Newsday, the event begins with pre-game
ceremonies, followed by the official competition. A mini-game between periods is also scheduled for
junior varsity players. An awards ceremony follows immediately after the competition.
In addition, a special raffle will be held to benefit All Island Handicapped Sports, a non-profit
organization that runs programs for physically challenged children, some of whom compete in the
Special Olympics.
Seiferth plays defense on the Garden City Wings; Norell plays forward on the Garden City Wings.
The Vytra Cup has become a premier scouting opportunity for area college programs, and this
year’s game takes on added significance as a talent showcase because two local colleges, Briarcliff
College (Bethpage) and SUNY Farmingdale, inaugurated hockey programs in the 2004-2005 season.
The Vytra Cup game will begin at 7:30 p.m. on February 17. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be
ordered by calling the High School Hockey League of Nassau County at 516-996-4533.
